Sand Castles

                                                Stu's View
Just had to post this up after yesterdays little bit of humor
Family holiday possible 23 years or more ago

Remember when

                      Stu's View,

It was a long time ago, we buried your dad for a laugh
while he was sleeping, remember ?  the tide suddenly turned.

Yesterdays doodling in photoshop lots of experimenting with this and that.

august 26th: learning how to deal with disapointment

yeah, sometimes they're small things,
and sometimes they'll be bigger things,
or maybe even big things,
but they usually are
just things

No sign of things changing

The hoarding may possibly  of changed by now, the pub sign I doubt it
and the litter will have just blown away.

Fifty years waiting all hope gone

Art work by Stuart Byford.

In the twilight

Started out as a acrylic painting on plywood then finished off in photoshop.
I really like how the shapes in the tree trunk turned out, lots of gremlins

august 14th: Hunchbakk - Riot music EP: track 1 (unfinished)

Riot Music EP: Track 1 (unfinished) by Hunchbakk

i still can't believe that a week ago Enfield was the heart of trouble kicking off as riots took over the capital for a second night, it felt bizarre and terrifying that this could be happening in my home town and that the few clips that were circulating on the news were of places that i walk past virtually on a daily basis, so familiar, yet so different, transformed by the presence of riot police and organised chaos

thankfully things seemed to have calmed down now, but last week, amidst all that was going on, i tore myself away from the computer screen and wrote a short poem on the feelings that had been stirred inside me, this week, as situations were looking worse, i began expanding on this idea, and on others, to produce a few pieces of music to reflect the times and the tension

this piece is still slightly unfinished, it needs a little more tweaking and polishing to get it up to scratch, but i wanted to put it out before the memories fade

Fishing nightmares

As I picked a pink snappy thing up over the park the
last thing I expected it to be was a hair grip
then the imagination took over.

august 13th: keep smiling

in spite of everything our town has faced over the past week, we seem to have pulled through the worst of it with our spirits still high

shops throughout Enfield Town are now emblazoned with these signs, as we all settle back into the usual routine and hope to have put it all behind us

august 12th: Sun Street

It is a shame to see so many shops and pubs shut down throughout Waltham Abbey, the result of a downturn in our economy, leaving mostly empty shop windows and making what was a quaint and quiet little town even quieter

above is one of a number of mosaics that line Sun Street, the main street in Waltham Abbey, showing signs of ageing and wear and tear and desperately in need of renovation, much like the town itself

august 12th: tomatoes in my garden 2

it has been so rewarding watching these tomatoes ripen, and i can't wait to tuck into these soon

august 9th: in preparation for apple pie

got home from work to find these four apples balanced upon the kitchen scales and couldn't resist a quick shot of them

august 9th: where there's smoke

waking up to the news on tuesday morning that the Sony warehouse and distribution centre in Enfield Lock had gone up in flames the night before

the industrial estate is probably no more than 10 minutes walk from my home and thick black smoke was clearly visible from our house, and for miles around

august 7th: Enfield and I

I am fiercely proud of my home town,
Enfield is part of who I am,
I am a part of Enfield,
And an attack on Enfield,
Is an attack on me.

As the tension mounts,
And ill feeling hangs heavy in the air,
I can't shake the involuntary feeling of excitement,
Mixing with sickness.

Tonight we make history together,
As I pray that everything historic,
Everything beautiful,
Everything and everyone I love,
Doesn't burn down to the ground.

It is all eyes on us tonight,
As we bunker down in our homes,
And make it a night to remember,
With our updates and our outrage,
Trending, reporting and cowering,
As the same four clips of footage,
Repeat over and over on Sky News.

august 6th: tomatoes in my garden

the first signs of ripening on the tomatoes that i have been growing in my garden, since my dad gave me three small plants that he in turn had been given, and have been grown in a grow bag purchased from the pound shop
