and everyone is watching The One Show

january 24: bulb self portrait

i had been running a bath when i noticed the blue light of my ipod dock reflecting in the discarded bulb that has been lying around on the kitchen work-top, so i grabbed my camera to get a picture, and it wasn't until after that i noticed my own reflection.

yes, i am naked.

no, you can't see anything.

january 20: one of our elephants is missing

the graffiti of a pink elephant squirting water was a memorable and well-loved landmark in Enfield Lock, i don't know how long it has been painted over, but even though it must be a number of years, the faded outine of the head and trunk are still visible in this photo

january 12: the day we found out grandad had been flytipped

it was just under the flyover that we found him

upturned and half-out of his usual chair

along with a handful of belongings

and photos that had addorned walls

he looked dazed, confused by it all

the poor old sod

with remote control in hand and a furrowed brow

eyes fixed on the same telly that had seen him through the past fifteen years

now smashed and propped upon a pile of breezeblocks

and he greeted us with very little fanfare

merely stating that the reception for channel five was the worst it had ever been

i felt inspired to write this after glancing over the photo posted by my brother yesterday, and by the hand full of other photos that he featured on his own blog

january 9: broken glass

it was hardly a rowdy party that we DJed at, but i guess accidents do happen
this lone broken glass was stood on the arm of a bench outside the venue, lit by the wall mounted spotlights, and i spotted it as we were packing our equipment away at the end of the night

january 8: smiley face

i had already taken a few shots that i had been considering posting, but when my girlfriend drew this smiley face on the steamed up window of the golfclub we were DJing at, and i saw the way the light caught it i decided that i should share this snap, this time taken on my 3.2 megapixel camera phone

january 7: this n that

the intention was just to post one photo a day, somedays it had been hard to find something worthy a quick snapshot, but today, out in the daylight for a change, a lot more things opened themselves up to me with opportunities of interesting shots, i did restrain myself, but thought i would share these two since they are so different from each other

january 7th 11:18am
first i spotted the row of giraffe-like lamp posts that were lined up, stretching into the distance towards Waltham Cross

january 7th 11:19am
and secondly, it struck me that i never really take photos of shops, they just seem to be such an unexciting part of our surroundings that they just aren't worth bothering with when they are there, but become much more interesting when looking back on the way things were

very few shops survive very long on this corner, so i thought i may as well preserve the memory of the rather odd and uninviting little shop

january 5: Dogs, more than just great steaks

interpret this sign how you wish, but it seems to me that in addition to being a mighty filling slab of meat (and possibly a rather fine pie filling?), The Sun And Woolpack on the Hertford Road have found that dogs are also rather good at guiding people that have lost their sight
